This Cultural Tour gives guests great insight into the culture and traditions of 4 different tribes in Botswana.
On this Cultural Tour a guide will meet the guests and accompany them on a walk through the Cultural Village. This provides guests with an excellent opportunity to view a wide variety of bird species including rare riverine inhabitants. Guests will also have the opportunity to both observe and touch various insects, plant and trees whilst under the guidance and instruction of their guide. Included in the tour is also a visit to the beautiful Mowana rapids as well as view Impalila Island on the Namibian side of the river.
Of historical interest is a visit to Commissioner’s, a place that the Late President Seretse Khama always visited whilst in Kasane with his Dignitaries and other village elders. This is the highest viewing point in this Recreational Park overlooking the Chobe River. Guests will then be taken to visit the Four Tribes – the Basubia, Bananjwe, Batawana and the Khoi-San. Members of each tribe will explain their different ways of life and different cultures. The guide will also explain the history of the area. Guests will also be able to watch ladies weaving baskets in the village and observe carpenters at work.
Finally guests will have the opportunity to visit the local curio shop where all the baskets and woodcarvings are available for sale.
